A 28-year-old cruise line worker in the UK died in a “frantic” attack by her ex-boyfriend, who became enraged when he saw her on a Tinder date with another man, prosecutors say in a report.
Lilted lover Abdelaziz El Yechioui Ourzat, 30, was captured in a video in September 2019 “hidden in the shadows” in front of Southampton’s Giddy Bridge pub, where Cristina Ortiz-Lozano had gone with the man who met at the dating app, British Metro reported.
Ourzat then followed the couple as they returned home, where he allegedly stabbed her 23 times with a kitchen knife, a Winchester Crown Court jury said Wednesday.
Prosecutor Kerry Maylin told Ourzat “a jealous ex-boyfriend in a fit of rage that attacked him frantically, simply because he had dated a man, not Mr. Ourzat, on the night of the murder.”
Ortiz-Lozano and Ourzat met at a school in Spain and had been together for about 12 years before she left him when he was arrested for drunk driving in August 2019, according to Metro.
“He couldn’t deal with his volatility or his drunkenness,” Maylin said, but when he told Ourzat to leave, he became enraged around the house they shared, ripping lights and radiators off the walls.
Ourzat was charged with criminal damages and then allegedly breached his bail by sending his abusive emails.
After the volatile breakup, Ortiz-Lozano met Vincente Breso-Biosca on Tinder and went to the fateful date, during which Ourzat bought some flowers and took them to his place before returning to the pub.
When Ortiz-Lozano saw Ourzat, she told her appointment about her former “abuser” and asked if they could leave because she was not allowed near her because of her bail conditions, Maylin told the jury.
“Mr. Ourzat clearly followed them. He is seen with a closed circuit of television following them on the opposite side of the street and stays at the crossroads or hangs, ”he said.
After Ourzat followed Ortiz-Lozano to his house, Breso-Biosca heard a shout and entered.
“He saw Miss Ortiz-Lozano already lying on her back on the kitchen floor, with Mr. Ourzat crouched over her with a knife in one hand and the other in her throat,” Maylin said.
“She had her eyes open, but he thought she was already dead, she wasn’t moving,” he added. “He described Mr. Ourzat turning to him, closing the door and continuing the assault on Cristina Ortiz-Lozano.”
Ortiz-Lozano suffered stab wounds to his chest, neck and abdomen and had defensive wounds to his arms, “where he raised his arms in front of his body to try to protect his torso and neck,” the jury was told. .
Ourzat, who has alleged that Ortiz-Lozano stabbed him first, has pleaded guilty to murder, but guilty of manslaughter for reduced liability.
