Starting Monday, people 55 and older and educators can begin making appointments to get the COVID-19 vaccine in Connecticut.
Educators and daycare providers and Connecticut residents and employees ages 55 and older are already eligible for the Connecticut vaccine.
Healthcare personnel, medical lifeguards and residents, and long-term care facility staff were already eligible for COVID-19 vaccines in the state.
Eligible educators and daycare providers include preschool teachers up to 12th grade, paraprofessionals, custodial staff, food service providers, school bus drivers and daycare providers, as well as school administrative staff.
This does not include people who are not required to work on site in a school.
Gov. Ned Lamont said he expects Connecticut to receive 30,000 Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 single-dose vaccines on Tuesday, March 2nd.
The announcement comes after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized emergency use of the vaccine on Saturday.
The Johnson & Johnson firing is now the third with emergency clearance to combat COVID-19 in the U.S.
The 30,000 Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be added to the typical doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines administered in the state for use. This would increase the total allocation of weekly vaccines in the state to 130,000.
The governor notes that the J&J clearance fired about a year after the pandemic began “not only is it remarkable progress, but another tool that helps us quickly defeat the coronavirus.”

There have been times throughout the pandemic when Bradley Airport has been extraordinarily quiet and people avoid travel. Now, it seems like some people are starting to get more comfortable with travel and might be prepared to run away from the cold.
