Cuba issued a decree this Friday inherent in the contraventions of veterinary medicine, Which takes into account animal health infringements, measures to be imposed on those who infringe the established and the authority empowered to impose them, as well as ways of resolving non-conformities.
The Official Gazette of the Republic published Decree 20 Contraventions of Veterinary Medicine, signed by the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, and Gustavo RodrÃguez Rollero, head of the Ministry of Agriculture. The same applies to national or foreign natural and legal persons, and is mandatory throughout the country,
Fines for offenders range from 500 to 3,500 pesos or their equivalent in convertible pesos, According to the gravity of the facts in which these incur.
The Decree also provides for the confiscation of animals and products, the retention, deactivation or re-embarkation and the withdrawal of the Sanitary Veterinary license. Those who cause situations of stress, physical damage or ill-treatment that threaten the health and welfare of animals of any species, category or purpose, the corresponding measures will be applied.
Irregularities include everything related to biosecurity, in addition the lack of a veterinary health license or its obsolescence, as well as infringements relating to the import or export of animals, products and raw materials of this origin.
The severity of the measures will also fall on those who practice veterinary medicine without the known registration to the Administrative Control of Doctors in Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics.
