The official noted that 34 municipalities in the country, including those in the province of Havana, will have more restrictions on the increase in cases and that they will implement measures such as stopping the school year from Thursday, so that students can attend schools this Wednesday to receive guidance and pick up their books.
Cuba had a low rate of infection, but after the celebrations of the Christmas season and the higher influx of tourists, cases rose rapidly with a record on Monday of 487 people who tested positive and two dead on the same day.
In total, the island has recorded 15,495 positive cases and 155 deaths from the disease since the beginning of the pandemic in March last year, a much more favorable situation than that of its neighbors in the region.
