Dozens of Cubans living in the United States have gathered on March 20 in front of the White House in Washington to demand a change in the country’s policy toward the island.
According to the group som +, After the worldwide success of the song Homeland and Life and the awakening of the Cuban people in recent times, “Cubans living outside the island multiply in the deep need to give voice to the millions of brothers who by the persistence of the Cuban communist dictatorship are still bound hand in hand by evil deeds of this anachronistic system “.
Among various arguments, the call states that one of the many articles in the official media of the Havana regime has described the issue of Homeland and Life as “draper and coward”, as well as “rats” to its authors.
They also indicate that the government has labeled to the Spanish Cuban artist Yotuel to engage in prostitution when married to a Spaniard.
“It is outrageous to the point that we cannot remain silent in the face of so much injustice that it is repeated over and over again in the face of European-like looks that turn when we see all our pain pass, as if it were non-existent,” says the communiqué.
He also states that the European Union’s ambassador to Cuba, the Spanish Alberto Navarro, sent a letter to US President Joe Biden, asking him to lift the economic embargo on the island, in legating further that there is no dictatorship in the country.
“For all this, many Cubans in the international sphere say, Enough!” He adds.
The Cubans were also summoned to protest on March 20 in Madrid, in front of the European Parliament.
“We will tell one that to negotiate and carry out the foreign policy of his cabinet towards Cuba we need to talk to the oppressed Cuban, we need to talk about suppressed rights, we will tell the others that our people are not alone, that we strongly reject the PDCA the millions donated to the dictatorship have never been returned to the Cuban people, that we will not stop until the policies from Europe in support of the Castro regime are reversed and that figures of the statures of Alberto Navarro must be evicted from the their favored position in our homeland, ”they point out.
The initiative will also be replicated in other cities around the world, such as Brussels, Montreal, Panama, among others.
