Cuomo’s retirement benefits will be activated on Sept. 1, a spokesman for said New York driver’s office Rochester First on Wednesday reported.
The office said a person must file benefits between 15 days before leaving office and 90 days after leaving office.
Cuomo resigned after the New York Attorney General released a report alleging that the governor sexually harassed several women and threatened retaliation against a person who was going to talk about it.
Lt. Kathy Hochul (D) will succeed Cuomo, becoming the state’s first female governor on August 24.
Cuomo maintains his innocence and says he would have won the trial of dismissal the state legislature planned the governor.
“I’m not going to drag the state through the mud, by a three-month, four-month dismissal and then win and make the state legislature and the state government look like a ship of fools when all I’ve done is my life was exactly the opposite, ”Cuomo said. “I don’t.
