The Mexican team will face the champions of the Champions League in the final of the Qatar 2021 Club World Cup
The final of the Club World Cup was defined, to be played between Bayern Munich and Tigers, champions of the UEFA and CONCACAF tournaments, Respectively, who will face off next Thursday, February 11 at 12 noon, Mexico time, at the City of Education Stadium In Rayyan.
Tigers became the first finalist of the contest after beating Palmeiras of Brazil 1-0 last Sunday in the semifinals of the competition, while the German team went 2-0 over Al-Ahly on Monday.
The Mexican team began its journey to the Club World Cup on February 4, the day it defeated Ulsan Hyundai FC with a score of 2-1, in what were the quarterfinals of the tournament, different situation to that of the Germans who entered the semifinals directly.
Bayern Munich are in this contest after being proclaimed champions of the 2020 Champions League, the same one that ended undefeated. He was the leader of Group B, which he shared with Tottenham, Olympiacos and Estrella Roja. In the knockout phase he left Chelsea, Barcelona, Olympique de Lyon on the road and was crowned after beating Paris-Sant Germain in the grand final.
In the other hand, Tigers reached the Club World Cup by winning the CONCACAF Champions League, in which, like the Germans, they lost without losing. In the round of 16 they went on to Alliance, later defeating New York City. In the semifinals they beat Olympia and the grand final beat Los Angeles FC.
It should be remembered that the championship that the UEFA and CONCACAF representative will play next Thursday is the 2020 edition, as the pandemic could not be held at the end of the previous year, for which 2021 will have two Club World Cup, the current one and another to be played next December.
