Deathloop is a masterpiece and PS5 gets a major update: Podcast Beyond Episode 717

In this week’s episode of IGN’s PlayStation podcast, Podcast Beyond !, host Jonathon Dornbush joins Brian Altano, Lucy O’Brien and Matt Purslow to discuss the latest PS5 updates, PS5 games and much more.

First, let’s discuss the release of PS5’s new exclusive console, Deathloop, as we jump to Matt’s Deathloop review and his general thoughts on the game, the world, and Deathloop’s unique multiplayer. Jonathon, Lucy and Brian also offer their impressions of Deathloop, taking a look at what we’ve enjoyed from our early hours of play so far, and how it stands alongside other Arkane games.

Also, let’s jump to the news about the new PS5 update and what this PlayStation 5 firmware means for both the user interface and the PS5 SSD expansion. We dissect a bit of how this opens the door to new third-party PS5 hard drives, changes in the way PS5 trophies are displayed, and our hopes of what other updates we might see in the PS5 UI.

We also briefly touch on some updated news about Insomniac’s Marvel’s Wolverine, the new Marvel game from Spider-Man developers, its mature tone, and what our first expectations are. Also, let’s discuss some of the other PS5 games we’ve been playing, Matt shares a wonderful memory card story and more.
