Test and positive rates
In Sunday’s update, 3,439 positive results were obtained from a total of 48,098 completed tests, creating a daily test positive rate of 7.15%, down from 10% for the fourth day in a row.
The World Health Organization recommended in May a positive rate of less than 5% (divided by total positive total tests) for at least two weeks to reopen the economy safely. That 5% threshold is based on the total positives generated by the total tests.
According to Johns Hopkins University, Minnesota has had a positive 9.91% over the past seven days.
48,098 completed trials from 15,490. People are often tested more than once, so the test positive rate today is 22.2% when the positive ones are separated by the tested ones.
