The Executive Branch declared an official mourning for this Thursday, due to the death of businessman Alejandro Enrique Grullón Espaillat.
The provision is contained in Decree 699-20 released last night by Dicom, which states that President Luis Abinader also taught the Ministry of Defense for military honors to the prominent citizen.
In its article three, the decree specifies that the national flag should follow at half-mast on military enclosures and public buildings throughout the country. In its recitals, the decree states that Alejandro Enrique Grullón Espaillat was an essential figure in consolidating the banking and financial sector in the Dominican Republic.
He adds that the national banking entrepreneur combines his outstanding business profile with a vocation for service and social responsibility, with initiatives in the academic field and the conservation of the environment.
He emphasizes that the failure of Grullón Espaillat, who served to support productive products and the Dominican society with integrity, is a cause of mourning for the Dominican people and government.
Grullón Espaillat was the founder of the Banco Popular Dominicana and chairman of the board of directors of this bank.
