deGrom began letting go of his arm in NY

NEW YORK – For the first time since July, Jacob deGrom was letting go of his arm at Citi Field on Wednesday.

In shorts, training socks and a sleeveless shirt, deGrom was stretching and doing some shooting with minimal effort. It was his first time throwing a baseball since the Mets sidelined him due to an inflammation in his elbow to throw in July.

The MRIs that had been done to him so far continued to reveal the inflammation, until the tests the team received on Wednesday came with good news.

Now, deGrom will begin to step up its recovery process – flat-field sessions, from the bullpen and perhaps bullpen live, before a possible minor league assignment. The Mets have not set a date for the process, but most starter pitchers tend to take about a month, leaving doubt as to whether deGrom will be able to return to the Mets before the end of the campaign.

In the third year of his six-season contract and $ 137,500,000, deGrom started brilliantly, like no other pitcher in Major history, with a 7-2 record, 1.08 effectiveness and 146 strikeouts in 92 innings.
