Delayed delivery for nearly 10,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine in North Texas – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Delivery of about 10,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines in North Texas has been delayed, according to the Texas State Department of Health Services.

The DSHS said in a statement:

“DSHS has learned that, according to federal shipping schedules, the vaccine ordered on Friday and expected to arrive today is expected to arrive tomorrow, January 19, according to the most up-to-date information from Pfizer and our federal partners. The delay affected 55 of the 263 providers scheduled to receive the vaccine this week. “

Of the 55 affected locations statewide, five are in North Texas.

Locations in North Texas include Collin County Health Care Services, McKinney Fire Department, Garland Health Department, Dallas Baylor University Medical Center and the Los Barrios Unidos Community Clinic.

The delay means that 9,975 doses will arrive a day later than expected.

It is unclear what impact the distribution delays will have, if any, since many vendors closed Monday for the MLK Jr. holiday. In cities across the state, Monday’s vaccination appointments had to be rescheduled for later this week and are “conditioned on the delivery of doses,” a San Antonio city official said in a statement .
