Deliveries of Boeing Co.’s 787 Dreamliner are likely to remain stalled until at least the end of October, as the aircraft manufacturer has been unable to convince air safety regulators to approve its aircraft inspection proposal, according to said people familiar with the matter.
With almost all deliveries halted for nearly a year, airlines and other Boeing customers may increasingly use the delay to move away from deliveries or negotiate aerospace giant concessions. The first deliveries were stopped because the company and the Federal Aviation Administration began to delve into the manufacturing defects of the aircraft. The hold has suffocated a major source of cash for Boeing and complicated plans for airlines.
