in 2018 Demi Lovato suffered one severe overdose which was about to cost him his life and which has left him with brain sequelae but ironically the drugs they also contributed in some way to saving her because they were the only thing that helped her fight the eating disorders and suicidal thoughts which he experienced for many years.
“Like they almost killed me, they were also my lifeline at times because there were times when I had to deal with suicidal tendencies. And if I had followed this path, instead of resorting to another mechanism of self-destruction, to this day I would not be here telling my story. I turned to them to face the pain I was feeling because I didn’t want to die and I didn’t know what else I could do, ”he revealed in the podcast Yes, no, I’m not okay.
To this day, the artist has sworn that he will never fall again because he knows that, no matter how useful these substances may be to temporarily silence his inner demons, in the long run they meant a condemnation.
“I did the best I could and I knew, and now I have other ways to deal with my emotions and more tools at my fingertips so I don’t have to resort to these patterns of behavior again,” he said.
