Demo release for an awesome 2D fan-made Metroid Prime game

Prime 2D: Nintendo Life IMGNintendo Life

Nintendo made the tough decision in early 2019 to restart development of Metroid Prime 4 with the help of Retro Studios. Since then (and even before), there has been very little activity on the front of Metroid.

Fortunately, there is a passionate Metroid fan base and a talented group of developers known as “Team SCU” has been working hard on a 2D version of the successful GameCube, Metroid Prime. Although it was originally thought to be a joke, it is actually real.

Is called Prime 2D – with the other part of the name removed for obvious reasons, and the first demonstration has just been published.

“Hey everyone! It’s finally time for the first public demonstration of Prime 2D. When we first released it, this post was the April Fools’ Day page with fake screenshots, which hid the fact that in reality was our real demonstration, but we can clear that joke now that it’s over on April 1. ”

SCU further notes that this project “is done by fans for the sole purpose of having fun” and says that “all aspects of this show are subject to change” and may not necessarily reflect the final version.

The demo itself offers players the opportunity to explore the Overworld Tallon, including the artifact temple and the ruins of Chozo, and includes a number of skills and powers, such as Morph Ball. There are also 360-degree lenses, the ability to scan the environment, and apparently a little more after the credits.
