“Once again, the government is attacking with impunity the rights of a woman who has taken a step forward for the politics of our country,” said in a statement the deputy of ARENA , Margarita Escobar, for denouncing that she is the object of gender-based political violence by government officials.
The complaint arose as a result of the demolition of a billboard by public works authorities, which contained political propaganda from the ARENA party. “My publicity as a candidate is not a minor issue, it directly attacks my political rights and this, gentlemen, has a name: gender-based political violence carried out from power with total premeditation and treachery,” said the tricolor deputy.

Escobar, who is seeking re-election in the February 28, 2021 election, denounced government officials as directly attacking her political rights, current legality, due process and her rights as a woman.
The statement said that all this was due to the fact that the Minister of Public Works, Romeu Herrera, endorsed the demolition of a fence with propaganda of his re-election as deputy. Ernesto Muyshondt posted a video this week showing MOP employees dropping a fence with his image and that of MP Escobar, located at the intersection of the street in Huizúcar and Luis Poma Boulevard.
The Minister of Public Works, for his part, has justified that the demolished fence did not have the respective permits, and that for this reason it was proceeded to demolish.
According to the parliamentarian, such actions seek to denigrate women, preventing them from daring to get involved in politics.
