Deshaun Watson should arrive “quickly” at Jets: Richard Sherman

One of Robert Saleh’s former defensive stars defends Deshaun Watson finding his way to the Jets.

“If I were Deshaun, I would leave as soon as possible. I would go to New York. … The Jets, ”49ers quarterback Richard Sherman said on“ The Cris Collinsworth Podcast, ”which Sherman co-hosted.

“It simply came to our notice then. Decent offensive line. They should find some threats, they should find some offensive weapons, but I think there would be a lot more people excited to be there. I think this year’s free agency market will be oversaturated due to the salary cap, but that would be what it would do. I would be out there smoking for the first time. ”

Watson, 25, earned his third straight gesture in the Pro Bowl in 2020 after pitching for the best NFL 4,823 yards, 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions, along with 444 running yards and three rushing scores. He has played in every game except one in the last three seasons despite being fired 155 times during that period.

And yet, the Texans took a big step back and went 4-12 this season. After a last-ditch trade that sent DeAndre Hopkins to the Cardinals, Bill O’Brien was fired as coach and general manager after a 0-4 start.

Watson’s frustration “was at a 2 and I brought in a 10,” he tweeted last week, almost word for word confirming an ESPN report that his anger levels were between the Hopkins trade and now . I wanted input on jeans searches from a general manager and head coach.

But the team dragged its feet in setting up an interview with Eric Bieniemy, Chiefs offensive coordinator, about whom Watson has heard good things from Patrick Mahomes. The team then hired Nick Caserio of the Patriots as general manager instead of the finalists recommended by ESPN’s Korn Ferry, Omar Khan and ESPN’s Louis Riddick, a move that had Jack Easterby’s fingerprints, very malignant.

“It simply came to our notice then [Watson is] without answering any calls or text messages, I wouldn’t either, ”Sherman said. “She is OK. He has beaten you and played efficiently.

Watson offered Jets fans some hope by liking an Instagram post that contained the back page of “The Watever It Takes” by The Post advocating for the Jets to chase the quarterback.

Sherman has been enthusiastic about Saleh since the Jets hired him, and it looks like a Saleh-Watson marriage would return the Jets to contention.

“Great pickup!” Sherman previously told Saleh’s The MMQB. “It will change this whole culture!”
