Destructoid celebrates the 35th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda

Zelda Week is coming to an end, bitches

It is with great sadness that I have to announce the end of Zelda week here on Destructoid. Over the last few days, we’ve put together a number of articles on The legend of Zelda in celebration of his 35th birthday. When Nintendo announced a Direct last week, it was sure there would be a big bang for the franchise, like what it did with Super Mario. Unfortunately, all we got was confirmation Skyward Sword HD.

There are still 364 days left for Nintendo to hold some sort of official celebration The legend of Zelda, but for today, Destructoid has you covered with a summary of all the articles our writers published last week. Get to know each other because there’s a great read below.

Ocarina of time

  • We asked the staff and the Destructoid community to name the battle the favorite leaders of the Zelda franchise. I didn’t realize there was such a great love for Stallord, but I’m 100% here for it.
  • Zoey Handley, the writer formally known as Adzuken, shares her thoughts on the importance of Zelda by moving console games away from their arcade roots. In addition, the batteries in your home last forever.
  • Jonathan Holmes still loves them Skyward Sword because what more could you expect from the guy who likes to step on? To break. But seriously, Skyward Sword is a drug and we expect Nintendo to make the necessary changes to the Switch remaster.
  • As a counterpoint to Holmes ’article, community member TroyFullbuster would like you to know that they still hate Skyward Sword. I wish I could say I didn’t hate any games in this series, though Ghost hourglass exists, so …
  • Music has been an important aspect of the series since its inception, and Zach Bennett details how Breath of the Wild continues the legacy of the sound established in Ocarina of time. If you don’t think so Breath of the Wild it has an awesome soundtrack, you really should do a second listen.
  • Zelda II: The Linking Adventure has been routinely called “the hard Zelda “, and this year I managed to overcome it for the first time. But not without a little help. I guess I should be able to win now Majora’s mask. Or Oracle of the ages. Or Tri Force Heroes, but I think I need two more people for that.
  • He’s an oldie but a goodie. Community member Seymour explores the genre a Breath of the Wild.
  • Chris Moyse explains why The legend of Zelda the animated series were one of the worst things that have ever come out of DIC. The only way you could ruin one Zelda the drawing further is whether Nintendo licensed Seth MacFarlane.
  • Finally, the Destructoid community contributed their own stories The legend of Zelda, looking back on their best characters and moments and why this series is so important to so many people.
