Details of Liz Phair New album Soberish, shares new song: listen

Liz Phair has detailed her long-awaited next album Sober. The LP arrives on June 4 via Chrysalis. Today (April 14), Phair has shared the latest single from the album, titled “Spanish Doors”. Listen to it below and scroll down to find it Soberlist of songs and albums.

“Spanish Doors” is about “the fracture of a precious life, when everything that counted is suddenly thrown to catch up,” as Phair said in a press release. Added:

I was inspired by a friend who was divorcing, but the actions of the lyrics are mine. I mean hide in the bathroom when everyone around you is having a good time, but your life is just shattered. You look in the mirror and wonder who you are now, with shadows of doubt creeping into your eyes. Just a few moments ago you were a whole confident person and now you are wondering how you will ever regain magic.

Sober is Phair ‘s first new material album in 11 years, after 2010 Funstyle. It is not self-destructive or out of control; it is as simple as the cycle of dreaming and waking up. That’s why I chose to symbolize Sober with a crossroads, with a street sign. It is best described as a simple pivot of perspective. When you find yourself after a period of sobriety, there is deep recognition and emotional relief that floods you, reminding you that there is more to life, more to reality, and to your own soul than you are consciously aware of. . But if you look for too many good things or starve to death with too little, you will lose that critical balance.
