
Recognized Oscar-winning director Bong Joon Ho set another milestone in history, as he became the first to be named chairman of the jury of the2021 Venice Film Festival‘from South Korea.
According to the official website of the film festival, director Bong Joon Ho stated: “The Venice International Film Festival has a long and varied history and I am honored to be woven from its beautiful film tradition. As chairman of the jury, and most importantly, as a perpetual moviegoer, I am willing to admire and applaud all the great films selected by the festival. I am full of genuine excitement and hope, “
Alberto Barbera, artistic director of the Venice Film Festival, announced that director Bong would be the chairman of the film festival jury, stating: “She is one of the most authentic and original voices in world cinema. We are very grateful to him for agreeing to put his passion as an attentive, inquisitive and unprejudiced cinephile at the service of our festival.
