Disney + removes from its catalog Peter Pan, Aristogatos and Dumbo

Mexico City /

the platform Disney + remove from its catalog films that contain content related to social and racist stereotypes, such as Aristogats, Peter Pan He Dumbo.

Although for a few months they presented a message in which it was noticed in certain works that they presented “Obsolete cultural representations” with pejorative speeches about some minorities, the effort was of little use, so a step forward was taken.

Why do they remove them?

  • ‘Aristogatos’. The American company justifies it by questionably representing the cat Shun Amb, which has an Asian origin.
  • ‘Peter Pan’. points out that it includes negative representations and / or mistreatment of people or cultures. Instead of removing this content, we want to recognize its harmful impact, learn from it and general conversations to create a more inclusive future together.
  • “Dumbo”. It is mentioned that it ridicules the population with African roots.
