There were long lines of people waiting for the vaccine against COVID-19 on Wednesday, but some county residents trying to get vaccinated reported having trouble getting an appointment through the Othena registration application.
County leaders say their registration application overflowed. According to the Orange County Health Care Agency, about 10,000 people registered overnight to schedule an appointment.

Some who had trouble scheduling an appointment even received a message that they could no longer register. The county says it is working to fix the problems and more registration strips will be opened when the county receives more vaccines.
Residents can find out more about getting an appointment on the Othena site and can download the app from the App Store.
The county is asking those who do not have an appointment not to come to the Super POD site because this would overwhelm the system and make the distribution of vaccines more difficult. Health leaders warn that appointments are needed for things to work smoothly.
Disneyland is the first of five Super POD sites in Orange County with the capacity to vaccinate thousands of people every day. The rest of the sites will be announced when their agreements are finalized.
County health officials on Tuesday opened vaccine access to residents 65 and older, and the state is now following in county footsteps.
To date, Orange County has received more than 170,000 vaccines, according to OCHA Director Dr. Clayton Chau. To receive more vaccines, Chau said it is critical for the county to prove to the state that Super PODS, like the Disneyland site, are successful and that people want the vaccine.
