LOS ANGELES – Effectiveness on the mound and enough batting returned the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road to victory.
Mexican Julio Uries worked seven blank innings and got his 17th victory making him a leader in the Major Leagues; Max MUNCY fired a two-run homer and the Dodgers broke their two-run streak after whitewashing the San Diego Padres 3-0 on Friday.
“It was very important to get ahead in this series,” Uries said. “On a personal level, great to achieve these victories.”
Uries (17-3) has conceded three hits and a ball base, has racked up seven strikeouts and is unbeaten in its last 13 openings in which it has an 8-0 record. The left-hander has not lost since June 21 in San Diego.
“He’s a front-line opener and when he gets on the mound we hope to win,” said driver Dave Roberts. “Working long stretches tonight shows his development and maturity.”
Torpedo Jake Cronenworth, of the parents, was hit with a left-handed shot in the third inning and then left the game. Pilot Jayce Tingler said Cronenworth suffered a small fracture in his left ring finger and will be re-evaluated in the coming days.
Kenley Janseon worked the ninth episode and scored his 31st save.
The Dodgers stayed two and a half games behind St. Francis, leaders in the Western Division of the National League, and improved their home record to 47-23, the best in the Major Leagues, after their 15 bleached.
Max MUNCY put the Dodgers up 2-0 with his 32 home run connected to Joe Musgrove (10-9) in the third inning. Mookie Betts of the Dodgers got the first single of the game and scored with the MUNCY toddler that came out of the right field.
