Dog of the Biden receives professional help to adapt to the White House

Major, one of President Joe Biden’s dogs and First Lady Jill Biden, will receive professional help to adjust to the White House after a couple of incidents last month, a White House official said Monday .

Training for the 3-year-old German pastor will take place outside, not in the White House, but in the Washington metropolitan area, First Lady spokesman Michael Larosa said Monday in a press release sent by mail. The training is expected to last a few weeks, he added.

The Biden also have another German pastor, 12-year-old Champ, in the White House. But it is the youngest dog that has been the source of setbacks since they both moved into the White House in January.

Last month, the White House confirmed that Major had bitten someone during a walk. Shortly before this incident, the dog caused what the presidential residence said was a minor injury to a Secret Service employee on March 8.

Both dogs left for a time back at the Biden home in Delaware after the first incident. The White House noted it was because the first lady would be traveling for a few days, but the president had said Major was being trained.

During National Pet Day on Sunday, Jill Biden tweeted some photos showing the dogs and accompanied them with the phrase, “I love these two!”.
