Donald Trump shortens his vacation and returns to Washington

West Palm Beach, Florida – The president Donald Trump shortened his New Year’s holiday in Florida and will return to Washington on Thursday, a day earlier than expected, for reasons that the White house he did not explain.

The White House announced the abrupt change in the president’s calendar Wednesday night, hours after the senator Josh Hawley said he would raise objections when the Congress meet on January 6 to confirm the victory of the president-elect Joe Biden in the November elections.

Trump’s early return comes at a time when tensions between the United States and Iran are rising. There are concerns in Washington that Tehran may order more military retaliation over the death of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani occurred on January 3 by an American drone attack in Baghdad. Iran’s first response, five days later, was to launch a missile at a military base in Iraq that wounded about 100 U.S. soldiers.
