The Philadelphia Eagles had a very different look on Sunday – very notable in the final score.
When Jillon Hurts started his first start for Billy, the Eagles offense ran as a small option, going to the ground and coming out with 24-21 grief for the New Orleans Saints.
“Johnson got off to a great start this afternoon, overall I thought, there were some good things, in fact, that gave us a spark as a team I’m looking for, I think we’m looking for a team,” Eagles coach Doug Peterson said via team transcript. “But you know, this win today is not about a guy. This win is about this team, how flexible this team is.”
Despite Hurts’ impressive performance, Peterson will not announce a starter in the quarterbacks between Hurts and Carson Ventz for the team’s Week 15 game against the Arizona Cardinals. So, the quarterback puzzle for the Eagles didn’t go anywhere this week.
“I’m going to enjoy this,” Peterson replied when asked if Hertz would be his starter. “I’m going home and relaxing. I’m with my family tonight. Enjoy this success and get ready for the week.”
Peterson praised Hurts, but also emphasized the overall team game.
“It took everyone in uniform to win this game, not just one guy,” Peterson said. “I’m going to say over and over again that we need a village to do these things. Was part of it. “
Hertz had electrification, but the team played better than the attack for a long time, the Eagles attack line provided no excuses and Miles Sanders scored 115 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Hearts, who carried 18 times for 106 digits, topped the three-digit targets. He threw a touchdown and 167 yards in 17-30 days.
Did Hertz motivate the Eagles offense and wake up from its slumber by crossing 20 points for the first time since week 8? May be. According to Hertz, there was a responsibility to play together and with energy.
“I think, first and foremost, it was a great team win,” Hurtz said. “We all played together, trusted each other, and this week we’re emphasizing together – playing together, playing together, bringing energy and building our own energy. I’m glad this team did it today.”
Going forward, Hertz has not commented on how the startup job should be his own.
“I want to continue to influence those around me and work hard every day,” Hurts said.
Hertz made an immediate and successful impact. With that, the Eagles ’storyline of who Starter goes forward continues. Only this time, it continues to be a success.
