The Atlanta Braves have placed left-back Drew Smyly on the list of ten-day injured with a swollen left forearm ahead of his scheduled start Friday against the Chicago Cubs.
Manager Brian Snitker told reporters that the hope is that Smyly will only miss a start.
The Braves reminded right-hander Kyle Wright of his alternate training spot to start Friday’s game. Wright will make his debut in 2021 after going 2-4 with an ERA of 5.21 last season.
Smyly last threw Sunday’s 7-6 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies, a game that was decided by a home review of a home run by an Alec Bohm slide. The 31-year-old pitcher is 0-0 with an ERA of 5.73 in two starts this season.
Infielder Johan Camargo was also called up by Atlanta.
ESPN’s Jesse Rogers contributed to this report.
