Raleigh, North Carolina – A woman crashed into the barricade near the intersection of Pleasant Grove Church Road and Airport Boulevard, with her car rolling down the steep slope and coming to rest in the water below.
The crash occurred in the early hours of Friday morning, about a mile from RDU airport.
According to a Morrisville Fire Rescue Service official, the woman drove straight down the intersection and down the embankment, which was still slippery and muddy from the rain.
When officials arrived, she was trying to get on the embankment but had trouble getting up because of the mud and shoes.
Officials said he only suffered minor injuries and is expected to be fine. However, she was charged with DWI, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.
Around five in the morning, the headlights of the driver’s car could still be seen coming down the dark embankment. Half an hour later, the crew had recovered the car from the stream.
