From now on, the Mexican cinemas they will only be able to exhibit the movies in its original language with subtitles a Spanish, this according to the latest amendment to Article 8 of the Federal Law of Cinematography.
“The films will be shown to the public in their original version and subtitled in Spanish, in the terms established by the Regulations. Classifieds for children and educational documentaries may be shown dubbed, but always subtitled in Spanish.” , explains the document.
The reform that was approved last February by the Chamber of Deputies seeks to ensure access to culture for those with hearing impairments, said Sergio Mayer, chairman of the Committee on Culture and Cinematography.

It is worth mentioning that cinemas have suffered millions in losses due to the Coronavirus pandemic, to the point of having to close some theaters throughout the Mexican Republic.
