Three reasons why you should watch the Duke’s Mayo Bowl
– It will be pure power against cunning speed. Wisconsin’s offense has been injured, inept and inconsistent after an incredible start, but the defense is the country’s No. 1 overall, No. 1 in third downs and the team is No. 1 in possession time.
Wake Forest has a fun and creative attack who doesn’t mind controlling the clock, moves quickly and doesn’t pull anything off the lines.
– Both teams know how to do bowl games well. Wake Forest head coach Dave Clawson won 3-1 in bowling with the program, only losing last year in a good fight against Michigan State at the Pinstripe.
Wisconsin lost to Justin Herbert and Oregon in a Rose Bowl thriller last season, but head coach Paul Chryst is 4-1 with the badgers in the bowls.
– Quarterbacks will be the story. Wisconsin doesn’t have a running elite, but Graham Mertz is the highest-ranked quarterback in program history. He’s working through the tough times of a tough season (the receiving body has been affected by injuries), but he’s a talent. Sam Hartman, Wake Forest QB, is a fun veteran who threw ten touchdown passes and just one interception.
