Dylan McCaffrey, a former Michigan Wolverines QB, moved to northern Colorado

Former Michigan quarterback Dylan McCaffrey is moving to northern Colorado, where he will have the opportunity to play with his father, Ed McCaffrey.

Dylan had been an ESPN 300 recruit in the 2017 class but was never able to win his initial job in Michigan. He only attempted 15 passes in 2018 and suffered a broken collarbone that shortened his season. It was a backup of Shea Patterson in 2019.

McCaffrey was unable to begin his career in Michigan and opted for the 2020 season before it began.

Former McCaffrey became the Bears ’head coach in December 2019, but has yet to coach any games for northern Colorado because Big Sky moved its season to spring due to COVID-19.

Northern Colorado recently announced that it will not be participating in the spring season and the Big Sky championship, but will follow a modified non-conference program in late spring.

Ed will add his son to the list with two years of eligibility left; and because Dylan is a graduate file, he is eligible to play immediately.

McCaffrey is the brother of former Nebraska quarterback Luke McCaffrey and Carolina Panthers star Christian McCaffrey.

Michigan still has quarterbacks Cade McNamara and Joe Milton on the roster, and staff also added ESPN 300 quarterback JJ McCarthy in that class in 2021. McCarthy enrolled early in Michigan and was the No. 25 overall recruiter, as well as the No. 2 quarterback with double class threat.
