There is no doubt that Dave Chappelle will go down in history as one of the best comics he has ever walked the planet thanks, in large part, to the specials that put him on the map and he is certainly a masterful narrator, listening to his jokes. . it usually requires you to suspend your disbelief, as the idea of a baby selling crack cocaine in a corner is as entertaining as it is absurd.
Dave Chappelle delved into the absurd when he turned his attention Chappelle show, using the sketch comedy format in his favor, dreaming of a wide variety of ridiculous scenarios and providing viewers with Nick Cannon levels of infinitely quotable illusions in the process.
It is virtually impossible for me to choose my favorite sketch Chappelle show, but seeing the man behind it and the rest of the gang recreating the tales that the late Charlie Murphy told in the “True Hollywood Stories” segments would probably be at the top of my list.
The recurring part made its big debut during the second season of the show, when Murphy joined Rick James to reflect on some of the wild nights they spent together, with Chappelle playing the latter to recreate some of their misadventures.
Chappelle show he also gave us a supposedly true story about the time Charlie and Eddie Murphy were invited to Prince’s house and found themselves playing basketball against the musical icon, where the brothers and their crew were absolutely shot down before Prince invited them to come in for some pancakes.
In the episode, Murphy claimed that the story was 100% true and seemed offended when a producer questioned its accuracy, but I doubt I’m the only person who assumed he was part of the part. However, based on what Eddie Murphy recently revealed during a conversation with Jimmy Fallon, this is not the case.
On Thursday, Murphy joined Tonight’s show and he was asked to testify to the veracity of the story told by his older brother, which the actor claimed was “totally and absolutely accurate” (the discussion begins around 6 p.m.).
Evidently, Chappelle took some creative liberties (Murphy says he played with the clothes he wore to the club), but it seems that the phrase “shirts against blouses” was actually uttered and Prince’s team “kicked the shit out” of his opponents. Unfortunately, the panellets didn’t come out, but according to what Murphy said, I have no reason to doubt that they were served after being served on the court.
