Puerto Rican reliever Edwin “Sugar” Diaz has reached a $ 7 million deal with the New York Mets to avoid wage arbitration, U.S. media reported.
The pact means a $ 1.9 million increase for Diaz, who in 2020 agreed to $ 5,100,000 in his first year of eligibility for arbitration. In 2019, the pay of the naguabeño was $ 607,425.
Diaz, 26, was able to regain some of his best form in 2020 after a disastrous 2019 in what was his first year with the Mets after being traded by the Seattle Mariners.
