‘El vaquer’, leader of the Golf Cartel, enters the Peninsula of the Altiplano

A federal judge ordered unofficial pre-trial detention against Evaristo Cruz Sánchez, the Cowboy, identified as one of the alleged leaders of the Gulf cartel, Operating in the states of Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon.

Evaristo Cruz and two alleged members of his criminal organization were admitted last night to the maximum security penitentiary in Altiplano, in the state of Mexico, where they will remain until Wednesday until their legal situation is resolved.

In a hearing held at the Federal Criminal Justice Center attached to the said prison, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) charged El Vaquer and David “C” and Nicolás “A”, for their alleged responsibility in the crimes of organized crime, possession of cartridge guns, among other crimes.

The control judge has considered that there are elements to presume the probable responsibility of the mentioned ones, reason for which decreed unofficial pretrial detention, precautionary measure that will prevail until it decides if it links them or not to process.

According to federal officials, the Cowboy he was in charge of the use of drugs, weapons, extortion and kidnappings, In the municipality of Salines, Victoria, in Nuevo León, as well as in other localities of Tamaulipas.

Last Tuesday, the FGR, with the support of the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena), carried out searches in several homes in the municipality of Salines Victoria.

In the colony Salines Victòria, of the mentioned municipality, the arrest of was obtained the Cowboy, as well as David “C” and Nicholas “A”, who were secured with various substances, three short firearms, a long gun with its magazine and cartridges; chargers and cartridges, two communication radios, cash, mobile phones, three vehicles, electronic tablets and a banknote counter.

According to federal officials, Cruz Sanchez was arrested when he intended to meet with an ex-cartel of the Zetas which currently operates for the Jalisco New Generation cartel (CJNG), and is known as the Chago Villarreal.
