Elected representative of Louisiana hospitalized as a precaution for COVID-19 infection

Elected Representative Luke Letlow (R-La.), Has been hospitalized after a diagnosis of COVID-19, according to the News Star.

Letlow announced Friday on social media that he had tested positive for coronavirus and was in quarantine according to guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

“Thank you all for your kind words and prayers,” he wrote. “I tested positive for COVID-19. I’m at home resting, following all the CDC guidelines, quarantine protocols, and my doctors’ recommendations.”

Letlow was admitted to the hospital the next day, with great caution according to the Louisiana newspaper.

“As a precaution and on the recommendation of his doctors, Elected Deputy Luke Letlow is admitted to hospital (Saturday) to monitor him while he is on COVID-19,” Andrew Bautsch, a spokesman for Letlow, told News Star.

Bautsch has also contracted the disease.

Letlow won the Pelican Fifth State District seat during the Dec. 5 race and is scheduled to take office in January.

News of Letlow’s diagnosis comes days after two other Louisiana lawmakers and leaders tested positive for COVID-19.

Louisiana Republican Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser also announced he was positive Thursday, according to the U.S. News & World Report.
