Eleven years without the comedian and singer Luisito Martí

On January 3, 2010 the entertainment industry and the population received the news of the death of the versatile artist, Luisito Martí due to pancreatic cancer. Today, eleven years after his departure his family and close friends remember his contributions to film, music to television.

Luisito Martí successfully showed the audience several facets on stage. His career includes his steps in the Combo Show of Johnny Ventura, a group in which he shone thanks to his creative talent, musician and performer.

“Martí’s Death”, “I’m Telling You Right Now” or “What’s Up, Papo” are some of the songs that marked his career in the meringue, a genre with which he won international recognition for the sale of his albums. his life in music was linked to many artists, among whom stand out, in addition to Johnny Ventura, Anthony Rius, and Kelman Núñez, alongside those who led the orchestra “The Original Sound”.

It was also on television that he paused his orchestra and thus took on the challenge of performing in the programs “Show de l’Migdia”, “De Rematada”, “Les mil cares de l’engany” , “The Luisito Martí Show” and “The Luisito and Anthony Show”. These bets as an actor consolidated him as one of the great comedians, moving to cinema with great success in the film “Nova Yol”, starring his personal Balbuena from the hands of filmmaker Angel Muñiz.

From that moment on, Luisito Martí’s life took a positive turn and he chose to dedicate more time to cinema. The box office success of Balbuena motivated him to make a second installment and later made “The crazy people also think”, with the characters of Balbuena, Casimiro and Filomeno.

As an actor he shared the stage with Freddy Beras Goico, Felipe Polanco, Cuquín Victory, Ramon Ascencio, Joan Maria Almonte, among other actors and actresses.

His career was awarded by the Association of Art Chroniclers, as well as by organizations abroad. In 1996 he received The Great Sovereign.

Martí was born in Vila Duarte on February 1, 1945. He died at the age of 64. The artist was married to Mrs. Milagros Rivera (deceased). He is survived by his sons Luisín, Kaki, Omar and Robert Lluís.
