Elsa Peretti, famous designer of Tiffany & Co., has died.

Elsa Peretti, the famous jewelry designer at Tiffany & Co., has died, according to a company statement. He was 80 years old.

Peretti died in Spain on Thursday, March 18, according to a statement from his foundation.

“Elsa was not just a designer but a way of life,” the Tiffany & Co. statement said, describing her as a “bigger than life” person who “touched everyone at Tiffany & Co.”

“A masterful craftswoman, Elsa was responsible for a revolution in the world of jewelry design. Her collections of organic and sensual shapes have inspired generations,” the statement said. “Elsa’s relationship with style and the natural world was deeply personal and was strongly reflected in her creations. Over the past 50 years, Elsa has created some of the world’s most innovative object and jewelry designs.” .

According to Vogue, Peretti was born in Florence, Italy. In 1964 she had started modeling in Spain and later moved to New York and met fashion designer Halston, with whom she collaborated and who introduced her to the leadership of Tiffany & Co. He joined the company in 1974. Vogue reported that Peretti’s designs ended up accounting for approximately 10% of Tiffany & Co.’s sales.

Peretti was also the president and founder of the Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation, said the company, which supported projects related to human rights, environmental conservation and the arts and cultural preservation. He believed, according to Tiffany & Co., that protecting the planet was “a duty of all humanity.”

“We could do a lot better,” he said. “I’m trying to do something good.”
