Spectator who hit the ground for the third time in this series, arrested by police “on suspicion of assault”
It is understood that the viewer is called Daniel Jarvis, who is also called Jarvo 69. He has 123,000 subscribers on his Youtube channel.
It was the third time Jarvis had entered the field of play. While it is understood that, at least on one previous occasion, the club involved simply kicked him off the ground, Kia Oval commissioners held him until police arrived to arrest him. His appearance was greeted, in general, by moans and boos from a crowd who were enjoying an absorbing grill day.
It is understood that Surrey is disappointed with anyone who has been able to enter the playing area and is conducting a review of the incident.
There may also be concern on the part of the players and their representatives. In the last two games, Jarvis has been able to get on the pitch and make contact with the players. While there is no suggestion that his intentions were anything more than seeking attention, others with much worse motivations may have noticed the ease with which he was able to approach the players.
A Met police statement said: “A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault following an incident at the Oval Cricket Ground on Friday 3. September. He remains in custody at the South London police station.”
