Epic Games Store leans even more into exclusives and there’s a spring showcase this week

Expect many more Epic Store exclusives until at least 2022

Epic Games Store will get even more exclusives over the next two years and, later this week, will air a Spring Showcase event with game announcements (and organize the corresponding sale).

This first piece is crucial and lays the groundwork for Epic’s ongoing strategy. In a statement to PC Gamer, a representative said the store “will have more exclusives in the next two years than we’ve posted so far.”

The list includes titles we know, like this year Darkest Dungeon 2, and it is likely that many do not. There’s also the issue of genDesign, PlayDead, and Remedy publishing offerings with Epic Games.

Later this week we’ll see “a selected collection of new ads, games, and expanded looks presented by developers creating the games we all love” at a live event. The Epic Games Store Spring Showcase will air on Twitch at 11 a.m. Pacific Thursday, February 11th.

At this point, it’s not known what Epic might have up its sleeve: established IPs, new indies, and everything in between. As long as these deals are offered and the conditions are attractive, we will see many more promising games tied to Epic Store at least a year after launch.

It really feels like this plan of attack could go on without interruption for a long time, long time.
