Eric Stonestreet had a funny response to critics who claimed he was “too old” to marry fiancée Lindsay Schweitzer.
The “Modern Family” student reposted her engagement announcement photo in her Instagram story, but edited Schweitzer’s face to make it look more wrinkled and aged.
“It seems like a lot of people think I look too old, as a 49-year-old man, to be committed to my promise of almost 42 years,” the photo headlined Wednesday.
“Look, he can’t help it look so good at 42 and I can’t help it look like his grandfather, so I fixed it for everyone,” Stonestreet added.
The fans assured the couple that it didn’t matter what they looked like and wished them a lot of happiness.
“❤️ You are both perfect as you are. I love your appearance and most importantly: ❤ LOVE YOURSELF ❤ Who cares what people think, ”said one person in the post. “Congratulations !! I wish you both endless blessings and beautiful memories together. “
“You look great without filters! Congratulations, ”another person agreed.
Others congratulated Stonestreet for having such an optimistic response to the trolls.
“Why do people feel the need to make these comments? I love your answer 🙌 congratulations ”, someone wrote.
“Jajaja. Screw them. So happy for both of you !!! ❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏 “, commented another.
Stonestreet announced that he was engaged to his girlfriend Schweitzer, a regular pediatric nurse, earlier this week. He posted photos of the couple on social media where he was seen wearing an engagement ring.
“He said,‘ I would make your people call my people, ’” he jokingly titled the photo.
The duo met at the Big Slick charity weekend in Kansas City in 2016.
The “Pet Secret Life” star talked about her love for Schweitzer in 2017 and said on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “She calms me down, calms my nerves.” I am a very strong person ”.
