The telecommunications monopoly in Cuba, ETECSA, Announced a reduction in consumer tariffs for mobile data from this September 7.
From this Tuesday, users will be able to browse with a rate of 0.50 CUP / MB for international sites and 0.25 CUP / MB for national sites (siti.cu), the state entity explained in its website.
The previous prices were 2.50 CUP / MB for every 1.0 MB in the case of international navigation, and 0.50 CUP / MB in the case of national sites.
The company recommended to its “customers” to have the consumption rate deactivated, “since it is more profitable for them to acquire a plan, stock exchange or data package.”
“However, if you have current plans, bags or packages and also the consumption rate enabled, once the data resources of your plan are exhausted, it will be automatically deducted from the main balance at the current rate set by ETECSA from the September 7, 2021, ”the entity explained.
Recently, ETECSA extended the 50 percent discount at the Nauta Llar extra rate until September 30 this year for the morning and until noon hours, as part of the “compensations” promoted by the monopoly after the prolonged interruptions of the service during the days of mass protests against the 11J government.
In mid-August, he also offered combined plans for mobile telephony from 125 pesos. For this price, the state entity granted a “Basic Plan”, consisting of 600MB + 800MB LTE + 300MB for national browsing, including 15 minutes of voice and 25 SMS.
Days later, it became known that the company was censoring a number of words to network users. Terms such as “communism”, “dictatorship”, “Díaz-Canel singao”, “connection”, “demonstration”, “Homeland and Life”, “protest” and “VPN” were some of those that the monopoly prevented from sending by text messages, According to an investigation of the independent project Inventory, specializing in data journalism.
