PALMETTO BAY, Fla. – A search warrant was executed Wednesday morning at the home of former Florida Senator Frank Artiles as part of the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s investigation into whether he illegally funded a candidate planted in the November election.
Sources say the order involves searching for electronics, including a cell phone and computer, and the contents of a safe at Artiles’ home, Palmetto Bay.
Investigators are looking for evidence of Artiles’ possible communication with Alex Rodriguez, a candidate for the Senate in Florida’s 37th District Senate, and whether there is evidence that Artiles paid and illegally paid the mock candidate.
News of the raid, first published by Local 10 News, was dropped like a bomb on Tallahassee.
Announcements
Rodriguez, a third candidate in this race, has the same last name as incumbent Democrat Jose Javier Rodriguez, who narrowly lost to challenging Republican Ileana Garcia.
An investigation by Local 10 News shortly after the election found that Alex Rodriguez, a machinery representative with deep debts in Boca Raton, forged his address on the campaign submission form and did not raise funds or campaign for place where he was. the ballot for. He also lied to Local 10 News in November when we asked him to explain his curious records of non-presentation, non-partying and suspicious campaign funding.
Announcements
It is not illegal to plan a simulated candidate, but to fund it.
Prosecutors have been working on the case for months, following the money and communications between Artiles and Alex Rodriguez.
Maybe they are done with their fingerprints. Rodriguez kept his apparent manipulator Artiles informed of his progress as a candidate.
And the sudden changes to the campaign’s donor list go back to Artiles’ home IP address.
Artiles, now a pressure group, resigned his seat in the state Senate in 2017 after using a racial insurgency among colleagues and amid reports that they hired a “Hooters calendar girl” and a Playboy model without political experience as “consultants.”
Announcements
The attack on Arthur’s home ended before noon and the former state senator was seen inside the house with his lawyer.
Neither had any comments Wednesday.
Garcia won the District 37 race by just 32 votes over Jose Javier Rodriguez. Shill candidate Alex Rodriguez garnered more than 6,000 votes.
There is no evidence to suggest that Garcia was involved or aware of the shield planted in the race.
