Speculators are lowering their short positions against the dollar, but some analysts say an improvement in U.S. economic data and progress in the fight against the VOCID-19 pandemic will lead to the currency continuing to appreciate.

The U.S. economy created fewer jobs than expected in January and the previous month’s job losses were higher than initially reported, according to data released Friday by the U.S. government.

Against a six-currency basket, the dollar index traded at 91,130 units, almost unchanged, after falling 0.6% on Friday.
