The director of the Seismic Network of Puerto Rico, Víctor Orfe, said today that the forecast of scientists from both the Geological Survey and professors of the College of Mayagüez, estimate that the seismic sequence in the southwest will remain active in the coming months.
As he said in an interview with NotiUno 630, a year after the seismic activity began in this area of the island, there is still evidence of movements that occurred as close as a few days ago, when there was a tremor of magnitude 4.9.
“This categorizes it as an important event,” Orfe expressed.
This activity can be felt throughout Puerto Rico but, as in the past, mostly in the southwest area.
“The sequence according to the experts will continue, for how long ?, because they make their forecasts first a week later in a month and then also in the long term,” he concluded.
