Before he was killed in an explosive attack on Christmas Day, which devastated several downtown Nashville islands, Anthony Warner sent materials about his views to his acquaintances, federal investigators revealed.
In a statement to AP, FBI Special Agent Jason Pack said Saturday that authorities “are aware that the suspect sent materials defending his views to various acquaintances across the country.”
Authorities have said Anthony Warner, 63, was responsible for the blast that damaged dozens of buildings and injured several people. Warner died in the rolling home explosion, the causes have not been established by investigators.
Pack did not provide further details on the contents of the packages sent by Warner, but urged anyone who has received the material to contact the FBI.
The blast occurred on Christmas morning long before downtown Nashville streets were filled with activity. Police were responding to a report of an alleged shooting in the area on Friday when they detected a mobile home from which it was announced, through a recording, that a bomb would explode in 15 minutes. Then, inexplicably, shortly before the explosion, the audio shifted to Petula Clark’s 1964 hit “Downtown.”
