Extra points: Hogan, Buccaneers, Steelers

Veteran NFL receiver Chris Hogan is receiving he tweeted about ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter, but not because he just signed with a new team. In a news twist we didn’t see coming, Hogan introduced March to the Premier Lacrosse League. Hogan played mostly lacrosse in college, as you probably know that if you watch any broadcast of a game he played during his heyday with the Patriots. Hogan was an amazing story as he only played one college football season at Monmouth after moving from Penn State where he played lacrosse.

He joined the Bills after a couple of years of internship shuffling and became a household name during his 2016-18 career with New England. In those three years he was often Tom BradyThe deepest threat, and he was part of two Super Bowl winning teams. He signed with the Panthers in 2019, but injuries limited him to eight catches in seven games. He was with the Jets for the first five games of his disastrous 2020 season, catching 14 balls for 118 yards before landing on the injured reserve and then being cut. He is now trying to return to his first sport at 33 years old. It’s not clear if he will really be recruited or not, but all of us here at PFR wish him the best.

These two retirements will result in a $ 9 million cap for Pittsburgh’s Mark Kaboly of Athletic tweets. The Steelers are not in the best position, which explains why Ben Roethlisberger he will have to restructure his contract if he wants to return for another season.
