Fans are happy to see Damien Williams sign with the Bears

The last time Damien Williams, a Chicago Bears rider, was on the football field, he got the Kansas City Chiefs to win the championship when they defeated the San Francisco 49ers to win the Super Bowl LIV. Now, the veteran runner joins the Bears in a one-year deal, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Williams entered the league as an unrecruited free agent in 2014, signing with the Miami Dolphins. After four seasons, he signed with the Chiefs and became a key component in his championship in 2019. “Damien Playoff” ran for 104 yards and a touchdown to the Chiefs Super Bowl victory. He also added a reception touchdown. However, it was the last game Williams played.

Last July, Williams opted for the 2020 NFL season because of concerns about COVID-19. He was released by bosses last week.

The 28-year-old joins a back runner led by David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen. It will likely serve as the main backup for both players and provide a solid depth to the position as a double back threat.

As with any move regarding the Bears, fans and experts shared their thoughts on the team’s new offensive weapon. But the vast majority seems to agree that CEO Ryan Pace nailed it with this acquisition.
