– Three people worked hard to save a father and his ten-year-old son who were trapped in the Australian interior this week. The five had been driving through northwest Queensland on Sunday when their car got stuck on the flooded roads; they spent the night in the vehicle, the BBC reports. The next morning, the said trio set out for the nearest town, 31 miles away. Twelve hours later, they arrived at a police station and alerted rescuers of the location of the man and the boy.

A helicopter saw them just before sunset and they were taken to the local airport in good health, without the need for medical attention. His traveling companions were also in good shape, authorities said, praising the group for bringing enough water. They also praised the three walkers for knowing the exact location of the car and the father and son for being there all the time, ABC News reports. (Read more enriching news.)
