Fauci predicts that April will be “open season” for vaccines in the U.S.

WASHINGTON – Dr. Anthony Fauci predicts April will be “open season” for vaccinations in the United States, as the increase in supply allows most people to receive shots to protect themselves from COVID-19.

Speaking on NBC’s “Today Show,” Fauci, who is President Biden’s scientific adviser, said the vaccination rate will accelerate sharply in the coming months. It credits the upcoming deliveries of the two approved vaccines, the potential approval of a third, and the moves taken by the Biden administration to increase the country’s capacity to administer doses.

According to him, “by April” it will be “open season, that is, virtually everyone and anyone in any category could start getting vaccinated.”

He warned that it would take “several more months” to administer injections logistically to adult Americans, but predicted that herd immunity could be achieved by the end of summer.
