FBI raids Jacksonville house as part of “ongoing investigation”

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Division of the FBI attacked a house Friday morning in the Fort Caroline neighborhood, authorities confirmed to News4Jax.

In an email statement, an FBI spokesman told News4Jax that federal agents searched a home near the intersection of Ferber and Heath roads as part of an unspecified investigation. No additional details were released immediately.

“… FBI Jacksonville special agents are conducting a search to promote an ongoing federal investigation,” the statement said, adding that no threats were known in the surrounding area.

A News4Jax crew detected heavy activity at the scene, including FBI agents carrying an unidentified man in handcuffs and others carrying evidence in bags and boxes. The man’s name and his links to the investigation are unclear.

Due to the man’s arrest, News4Jax anticipates that he will go before a judge in the downtown federal court for his first appearance Friday afternoon. There, additional details about the investigation are expected to be released.

A neighbor who spoke to News4Jax on condition of anonymity said she was surprised to find nearly a dozen officers in the house when she returned home from a walk in the morning. He said he does not know who lives in the residence.
